History and description
Project made by Lluís Domènech i Montaner, built between 1902 and 1907.
The “Casa Navàs” placed in a corner is a very impressive building, no because it’s size, but because the incredible imagination of the architect Domènech i Montaner.
Before the Spanish civil war (1936-1939) the house corner had a stylized tower destroyed in a bombardment.
The interior show large spaces and a big luminosity.
The stairs and it’s mosaics, marbles, etc. had been realized by Alfons Juyol following designs of Eusebi Arnau.
The furniture and marquetry (one of the most impressive of Art Nouveau) were made by Gaspar Homar and the ceramics by Hipolit Monseny. Jeroni Granell was charged of the decoration of mosaics and stained glass, following designs of the same Gaspar Homar.
The building remain today the property of successors of Navàs family, who have the project to rebuild the destroyed parts of building.
We thanks his help to do that page.
